Sewing

Duffel Bag with pockets and zippers, inside and out. A great project to teach you many aspects of sewing such as the inner pockets, outer pockets, inner zipper, outer zipper, straps, etc… I use this bag often and it’s been filled, at times, full! It has the shoulder strap and hand straps. I did this through a video tutorial on what was Craftsy but changed to bluprint and just recently discovered they will no longer be in existence. Very sad about that! UPDATE: bluprint has been taken over by TN Marketing and they will be bringing Craftsy back, yay! I think they said by September it should be back up and running so this was an awesome tutorial and she takes you step by step how to make the duffle. The pattern cuts are always yours so once you make it, you’ll be able to make several as gifts. You can go through the video at your leisure and as many times as you like. It’s an awesome tool that keeps the project from taking so long, especially for those that comfortable sewing but, maybe haven’t done this type of sewing.

Decided it was time to make another mask since this COVID thing isn’t going away. Super simple and pretty comfy. I put a middle layer of sterilization fabric that I had Just laying around from work. It’s a type of material they wrap all our sterile supplies in for use in operating rooms.

My first homemade mask using operating room material for sterile supplies. Not sure just how much it’s holding in but it’s a step in the right direction. To be truly effective it would need to fit snuggly on the face. It is my belief that it has to be an N95 or you’re just minimizing your germs from getting to others and you minimize other germs from being inhaled by yourself, but just minimizing, they can’t fully protect you. And furthermore , if you wear it under your nose or don’t wash hands after removing it or touching it then you’re adding to your risk. Working in the operating room, you hear the scrutiny of whether something is sterile or not and there are so many factors and COVID is teaching everyone just how many factors are involved in keeping germs out of where they are not welcome.
